My 10 Step Beauty Routine
Today, I will be sharing to you guys my "10 Step Beauty Routine". If you've heard of the 10 Step Korean Beauty Routine, that's pretty much where I got the idea from.
BUT Before I share this to you all, I want you to know that I am NOT a beauty expert nor do I claim to be. This post is strictly based on my experience and my opinion hoping to help someone who is looking to make a change on their beauty regime.
So let's begin...
I never had any teenage hormonal breakouts or pimples growing up until three years ago. I suffered from adult acne on my forehead not knowing exactly how it happened. All I know, when I was training for my half ironman race, and was consistently outside, my skin also suffered and went through a lot of changes. After trying and spending so much money on so many beauty products that didn't work for me, I am happy to say that I finally found something that works.
After two years of doing the 10 step beauty routine, my skin have healed. My acne scars completely disappeared and I no longer suffer from breakouts as much as I used to. It was like, a miracle! Most of my girl friends are also doing the same and I can honestly say, their skin looks great as well
MY TEN STEP BEAUTY ROUTINE
1. Make-up Remover & Oil Cleanser
My skin gets pretty sensitive especially when I apply make up or any foundation on. I try to keep it simple. Eyeliner, mascara, blush and lipstick/lipgloss are mostly what I have on. But I must say, hands down to Clean it Zero Purity for Sensitive Skin from Banila Co. for being the best oil cleanser/makeup remover I've ever had. A few of my friends have tried it once, and became obsessed afterwards. It literally melts every make up you have and all you need to do is to gently massage it onto your face.
2. Water-Based Cleanser
Did you know its a must to wash your face twice? The purpose of a water-based cleanser is to wash your face to whisk away any remaining residue and impurities from your oil based cleaner. I've tried a few ones and so far, the OBAGI Foaming Gel is what works best for me. Not only it is great for everyone who suffers with acne breakouts, it also smells great.
Exfoliating your face is NOT an everyday thing especially if you have sensitive skin. I have been seeing my esthetician for quite some time now, and I was advised to use it every 7 to 10 days to get rid of the dead skin when new skin develops. If you leave your dead skin untouched, it will mix with the sweat and the dirt which is what causes pores the blocked. This will eventually turn into unwanted skin problems like black heads, white heads and even acnes. If you don't have a sensitive skin, twice a week would be ideal. Getting rid of your dead skin makes it possible for the rest of your products to absorb well into your skin to get accurate results.
This product was purchased through my esthetician and is not available to any known retail stores. But you can scroll through a few list of exfoliator from sokoglam that will fit your needs. You can also check out the Deep Clean Pore Glacial Clay that works like wonders and I've used for over a year before purchasing what I have now.
I'm not sure if you've heard of the miracle snail mucin. If you have, it is known to be the best ingredient on keeping a young looking skin, and has been HUGE everywhere in the world especially in the Korean beauty industry. It has the ability to repair skin damage, dry patches, or pigmentation from acne breakouts. This COSRX Snail Essence has 96% snail secretion filtrate for super intense repair and hydration. It is loaded with nutrients that helps repair damage, giving your skin elasticity and hydration. I seriously stand by snail mucin. It was one of the main ingredients that I used to get rid of my pigmentation I had during my acne breakouts.
8. Eye cream
The most delicate part of your face is the skin around your eyes and must be treated gently. Finding the perfect eye cream provides a great treatment of hydration and protection for your skin. You must use your finger and gently tap it when applying.
Hate bags under your eyes or wrinkles? believe it or not, it's actually better to start now to prevent wrinkles than starting when you already have one. The Le Mieux Eye Wrinkle Corrector is a lightweight cream that provides intense moisture to visibly reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, bags, and dark circles.
The Shiseido Benefiance Pure Retinol Treatment is what I use when I need instant results. It's actually pretty amazing. I don't use it everyday, but I use it on those days when I need a little boost of hydration. They work wonders!
It's very important to find the moisturizer that works well for your skin type. Moisturizer is the key to a dewy, and glowing skin. You must use a moisturizer daily, morning and night.
Who uses two moisturizers like I do?
The the type of moisturizer that I need depends on what the weather is like outdoors. I have a different moisturizer for both warm and cold weather conditions.
Have you heard of the use of vitamin C in your skin? believe it or not, it was highly recommended by my esthetician due to its anti-aging benefits. It protects your skin from damage and a great antioxidant that naturally helps strengthen your skin.
Sesderma C-Vit Radiance is a "powerfu,l vitamin C formula that nourishes your skin by providing hydration and luminosity through infusion of natural orange extract. "
I have always been curious about TATCHA - The water cream and was sworn by my sister in-law that it is a must try product. I purchased one to see it for myself. After over a month of using it, I can finally say that it is truly is a great product. It's an oil-free, anti-aging water cream that releases skin improving nutrients, botanicals, and optimal hydration.
10. Sun Screen
Did you know that the harmful sun rays is one of the number one causes of abnormal skin aging? Even if you're stepping outside for just a couple of minutes, it was advised by many professionals to wear sunscreen. It's also important to wear sun screen when traveling in the plane because this is when you are the closest to the sun.
Sunscreens were not my favorite because it always leaves my skin sticky, oily and sometimes with breakouts. After trying the Around Safe block Essence Sun Milk by Missha, I was happy that I finally found one that works well with my skin. Not only it's very light weight, I don't break out from it at all. It's a wonderful light weight sunscreen that gives powerful broad spectrum, or UVA/UVB protection in your daily skin care routine.
Other than finding the perfect daily beauty routine that works, it's also important that we take care of our body from the inside. When we nourish our body with the right kind of food and nutrients, it truly shows from the outside.
I highly recommend drinking lots of water everyday. How about trying out a super-rich nutrients smoothie in the morning?
Did you know drinking water with lemon has a lot of benefits especially for our skin?
We all know Vitamin C is good for our skin. The antioxidants found in vitamin C do double duty in lemon water. They fight damages caused by radicals, keeps the body producing collagen that is essential in smoothing out fine lines, and it keeps your skin clear!
It's also important that we eat the right kind of food to nourish our body and our skin. I found 10 different smoothie recipes that can help you maintain OR get the pretty skin you've always been wanting! CLICK HERE.
I don't always have the perfect skin. I have my days where I wake up with a pimple especially right around the time of the month. Sometimes, I get mosquito bites out of no where, or wake up with a few bumps not knowing where I got it from. Please know that these are all normal. Don't try covering your impurities with thick make-ups because it will only make it worst. Know that a youthful look doesn't just happen. We all need to make time and put effort to take care of ourselves. :)
